The goal for this project is to design packaging for a product line of bug repellent. The intent is for the packaging to stand out from the typical branding associated with bug repellents and steer towards a more fresh and appealing look, while incorporating an element of sustainability.

    SUSTAINABILE, TRAVEL-COMPATIBLE

    People who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, etc. are frequently in areas with a high population of mosquitos for an extended period of time. The outdoorsman requires a compact and easily accessible insect repellent and itch-preventative measure for on the go. The refillable container allows for an easy and practical restock before the next adventure.

  • High-Density Dweller

    TRAVEL-COMPATIBLE, VARIETY OF OPTIONS

    Mosquitos thrive in warm and humid weather, with the southern states experiencing the highest population density of mosquitos annually. Mosquitos appear more frequently during seasons of heavy rainfall, during which conditions are optimal for breeding. People living in these high-density areas experience dangerous levels of exposure to mosquito bites and require preventative measures that are convenient and readily available at all times.

  • Frequent Target

    VARIETY OF OPTIONS, REFILLABLE

    Factors such as blood type, carbon dioxide emission, sweat production, pregnancy, and skin bacteria can put some people at a higher risk for mosquito bites. This group of people requires frequent protection from mosquito bites and therefore a travel sized and refillable insect repellent may be the best option for them.

Design Inspiration

The packaging design for SKITO is heavily inspired by cosmetic products to give the brand a high-end appeal. Sustainability is incorporated into the brand’s image through its refillable packaging.
